TGIF…the weekend is off and running. It’s a scorcher, with a Heat Advisory in effect through Saturday night.
We did get off to a noisy, wet start for some with a few thunderstorms and I mean just a few, but they did pack a punch. There was a tree or two down in Cadiz, Ky early this afternoon. Late this afternoon a storm blew up in west Nashville that produced almost 2″ of rain in less than an hour, pea size hail and winds strong enough to bring down some trees limbs and small trees.
It was gone almost as quickly as it started…in less than an hour the storm was a shower. It cooled things down a little. The high today reached 94 degrees in Nashville.
Again tomorrow we do have the chance of some spotty showers and thunderstorms. So don’t be surprised if you see one. They will cool you off temporarily.
Tomorrow will be hot but that won’t stop the fun. Snowbird will be out participating in some of the local activities. It’s Nashville Zoo’s Ice Day, where the animals are treated to cold treats. It starts at 9am. Snowbird will be there in the heat from 1 – 3pm. Click for Zoo info.
The DeKalb County and Overton County Fairs will wrap up tomorrow. Snowbird will be at the Overton County Fair from 5 – 7pm.
The Nashville Sounds will be in town this weekend. Get ready for a hot one at the ball park. Game time 7:05 pm. Sunday’s game is at 6:35 pm.
If you are looking for something cool to do with the kiddos. Try reading. That’s right. It’s a great activity for hot weather, whether you do it at the library or at home, Tristarreads has a fun way to keep up with summer reading…check it out here. I recommend “Franklin and the Thunderstorm”.
Clear the Shelter is happening tomorrow, your chance to adopt a furry friend for free at the Metro Animal Care and Control. I will be there at 11:30am.
Have a blessed weekend. I’ll have a weather update on Channel 4 News at 10pm.
