If you were outside without the option to dive into the pool today, you probably wish you had!
Temperatures were cooking around town. Upper 90s felt more like the triple digits across the region and the light at the end of the tunnel? It is still a bit far off. Temperatures are only expected to dial up in the days ahead. Here’s what how our temperature version of Futurecast shapes up for 2 PM on Friday…
A good chunk of Middle Tennessee is under a HEAT ADVISORY through 8 PM on Saturday.
This means temperatures well into the 90s will combine with a another round of uncomfortably sticky dew point values to pull in heat indices between 105 and 110. Another words, you’ll want to keep an ice cold water bottle handy for the days ahead!

If you missed the early evening shows, this was a highlight — how fast the inside of a car can heat up! Ten minutes is all it takes for an outside air temperature to cook the inside of a vehicle to 109 degrees. 30 minutes? We’re talking 124 degrees. Please take extra caution and awareness to not leave the kids or pets in the car, even if it is only a matter of minutes.
With a firm grip of high pressure in place, the absence of rain is one reason temperatures are sizzling. Besides a few spotty showers and storms, I’m expecting a very dry next couple of days before an approaching frontal boundary arrives by Monday and Tuesday of next week. This will at least give a bit of relief in the temp department, back down to the lower 90s.
