Hot Week!

This week is off to a hot start the temperatures soared reaching 97 degrees in Nashville.  This was almost 10 degrees above the average and 2 degrees shy of the record high of 99.LISA SPECIAL FORECAST 9

This is shaping up to be the hottest streak we’ve had this summer with afternoons in the mid to upper 90s. With the humidity in place it will feel even hotter, 100 to 105 degrees. The best chance of rain for this week comes tomorrow as a boundary drops southward, but even with that, it’s just  a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. There could be a few showers and thundershowers Tuesday morning, but they will likely be more widespread in the afternoon as the heat rises. The rain should diminish as the sun goes down.

High pressure takes over Wednesday…this will set up several days of dry and extremely hot weather.  The chance of rain will be very slim Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. But no doubt about it there will be moisture around in the form of humidity.

HEAT WAVE

The temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s, and even near 100 on Friday. The heat indices will rise to 100 to 105 degrees this week.

WSMV 4DAY FORECAST

Of course this kind of heat can be dangerous. So please keep in mind this simple “check list”.

I’d like to pass along a brief letter of mine tp “Dear Abby” that just got published: http://chicago.suntimes.com/lifestyles/dear-abby-in-heat-closed-car-becomes-an-oven/

  2. Lisa Spencer says:

Tom, I have mentioned that same information in a previous blog and on the air. I am glad Dear Abby is spreading the word as well. Already this year 18 children have died because they were left in the car in the heat.
Thanks for passing the column along.
