Wow, what a day. It was terribly hot and sticky, it reached 93 degrees in Nashville at noon. Then we had an incredible storm system come through for much of the mid state, with numerous reports of wind damage…trees down and power outages. Look at all the “w”s on the radar screen.
The next system is already in southern Kentucky. It is producing quite a lightning show. Here is how the BAMS model is displaying the storm moving into Middle Tennessee.
I don’t think we will see the severe thunderstorms that we had early today, but I do think we will still have gusty winds and a lot of lightning. Can you sleep with loud thunder? If this depiction holds true, the southwest portion of Middle Tennessee will not get much rain again. Here are the rainfall amounts that same model is displaying.
With this much rain there could be some flash flooding issues. Southern Kentucky is already in a Flash Flood Watch until 4AM.
Aside from the early rain, tomorrow will be hot and sticky with a high near 94. Friday will be even hotter with a high near 96 and only some spotty showers and thunderstorms in the heat of the afternoon. The weekend will bring a better chance of rain, but still hot and humid.
I’ll have an update tonight on Channel 4 News at 10pm.
