Yikes! It is hot!

Today topped out at 97 degrees.  Not the hottest of the year, but it was close on June 16 it hit 98 degrees.

DT1

The humidity is on the rise too. Tomorrow will be just as hot is not a degree or two hotter.  I’m going with 97 right now.  The heat index or feels like temperature will be near 105 degrees, especially north of I-40 and west of I-65.  That does include Clarksville. The Nashville Weather Service may issue a Heat Advisory.

There is a front that will slide down into Middle Tennessee, I don’t expect any relief from to speak of.  It may trigger a few scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon, but that will just steam things up again.

Thursday night when the front slides farther south, there is a better chance of showers and thunderstorms.  The Storm Predication Center has placed part of Middle Tennessee in a “slight risk” zone for severe thunderstorms.  That’s a 1 on a 1-5 scale.

LISA SEVERE RISK REGION

That front will not be in a hurry to leave, it will keep the chance of showers and a few thunderstorms in our weather picture for Friday.

Saturday and Sunday you’ll want to run for the pool or the air conditioned mall, it will be hot and sticky, highs in the mid 90s and heat index values near 100.

WSMV 4DAY FORECAST

The pattern will start to change slightly the beginning of next week as a northwest flow up high up in the atmosphere guides disturbances into Middle Tennessee.  It will keep things unsettled.  A front will pass through and actually drop the temperatures a few degrees…low 90s…so much for relief.

Some of the longer range models do hint at cooler weather late next week.  AHHHH!

I’ll have the latest on Channel 4 News at 10pm
