Summer officially kicks off today! It begins at 5:34pm…
The weather will be true to form — hot with highs around 90 degrees! There’s about a 10% chance for a daytime heating shower this afternoon. Since those typically happen around the peak heat of the day, I’d estimate they’ll develop around 2pm and dissipate by 8pm.
Here’s the breakdown…
FUTURECAST shows very little shower development, with the focus where it was yesterday….well northwest of Nashville.
At least our humidity won’t be out of control. Today, dew points are in the 50s for many of us. That’s not all that sticky, by June standards. Tomorrow….things change though. Our humidity will be higher as will our likelihood for rain!
Check out FUTURECAST for tomorrow. It shows showers & storms moving in late in the day from Kentucky, ahead of a cold front.
There’s the chance a few storms will be strong-severe with gusty damaging wind and perhaps pea-dime size hail. The Storm Prediction Center has put areas along and north of I-40 in a marginal threat for severe weather. That’s the lowest threat (a “1”) on a scale from 1 to 5.
Once we get through tomorrow’s widely scattered storms (rain chance 40%), heat will take the headlines for Wednesday & Thursday. Highs both of those days will be in the low-mid 90s in most locations.
Coming up today on Channel 4 News at Noon, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, & 10pm, we’ll have more on the storms expected for Tuesday….and the midweek heat. We’ll also have an update on Tropical Storm Danielle, which formed this morning in the southern Gulf of Mexico, on its way toward the Mexican coast.
