Scorching, sizzling, ugh, yuck, steamy…just some of the many ways I’ve heard the heat described lately and there is more to come. Highs will be in the 90s again this week. And with the humidity this week, the air will be like wearing a coat. A record high was tied today in Crossville at 89 and a new one was set today in Nashville at 97.
With the addition of the humidity and a few passes disturbances, the chance of rain and thunderstorms will increase. That is a good thing, it provides temporary heat relief by cooling the air and we could definitely use the rain. We are well below for the year. Today we had several showers and thunderstorms develop. There was some wind damage around the Gallatin area and some reports in Mt. Juliet.
There will be a trough across the Mississippi River Valley Wednesday afternoon into the evening. That will bring a chance of strong to severe thunderstorms Wednesday. The Storm Prediction Center has Middle Tennessee in a “marginal” risk zone, that’s a 1 on a 1-5 scale.
Another front could bring rain and thunderstorms Thursday and Friday. This front will set us up with drier and slightly cooler air for the weekend. Back to the upper 80s for a few days.
Right now Father’s Day looks nice. Join me tonight for Channel 4 News at 10pm, I’ll have an update on forecast.
