Humidity noticeably higher today. I was out on a walk this morning with the pup, Lucy and I could really feel the difference. Looking up…I could see the clouds had really thickened up. And now thunderstorms are starting to form across the area.
As I am writing this, we are just learning about the Blue Angel aircraft crash. Right now it doesn’t look like it was necessarily related to the weather, however there were some updrafts in the area. Unfortunately there was one fatality. We’ll have more on this tonight on Channel 4 News.
There is a weak front north of the mid state. Out ahead of that front a very moist air mass is in place. This is an unstable air. Most of the thunderstorms are setting up east of I-65. With the moisture this thick, heavy downpours are likely. Gusty winds would be another threat with any developing storms this evening.
More showers and thunderstorms are likely tomorrow. It won’t rain all day long, but thundershowers will be scattered across Middle Tennessee. Keep in mind it has been very dry in the mid state, many locations are under a moderate drought, so rain is needed.
The area of low pressure that has been producing flooding rain in Texas will start to move eastward this weekend as a disturbance gives it a push. Saturday will be our wettest day. Be aware of possible ponding on the road and localized flooding. The rain and storms will likely move out early on Sunday, with some clearing likely in the afternoon.
Big change for next week as a drier air moves in. Temperatures will be lower and the humidity be lower as well. It should be a nice spring break.
