It was a stunning spring day…lots of sunshine and a high in the upper 70s. 79 is the average high for this day, so it was a typical May day. I couldn’t resist taking my sweet Lucy out for a walk. She was so excited.
Today’s great weather was thanks to a surface high located north of Tennessee in the mid west. That high will move east tomorrow allowing a low in the Gulf to develop further. The clouds will increase this evening. The rain will not be far behind spreading across Middle Tennessee overnight. Our Futurecast model shows the timing on the rain.
We are expecting some thunderstorms but they shouldn’t be severe. Generally 1-2″ of rain is possible across the area. The higher amounts are likely in southeast Middle Tennessee. This is bad news for schools with outdoor graduations tomorrow. It’s going to be a tricky call depending on the time of the commencement.
Many areas are still below average in the rainfall department, so this will be needed rain for many.
The rain really tapers off Friday night. There will be a little wrap around moisture left on Saturday. Most of that rain will be well to the east of I-65. A dry pattern returns Sunday and Monday.
Warmer weather for next week.
