After a stormy week…tornadoes and flooding…it was nice to have a sunny and warm May day. The high reached 77, right on target for this time of year. I hope you got to enjoy it, this weekend will feel nothing like that. The jetstream is making a very noticeable dip southward. With that dip comes cooler and drier air, plus Saturday will be breezy too.
A cold front will bring a few sprinkles in early in the day but by afternoon there will be a lot of sunshine. Futurecast shows the timing on the front and the possible precipitation.
After the front pass, the wind will pick up. That strong north wind will bring in the cooler air. Check out the projected wind gusts mid morning. That means the cooler air will feel even cooler.
This will be more comfortable weather for the horses, but not so much for the hats at the Steeplechase tomorrow. I would suggest a jacket or sweater for the early part of the day.
I won’t be at the Steeplechase, but I will be at the Strawberry Festival in Portland. I look forward to being one of the Grand Marshalls. I will be prepared for that cool breeze. There are lots of events all day long.
The Franklin’s Farmers Market is also having a Strawberry Festival tomorrow. Tomorrow night, the Sounds are back home against Fresno. It will start off pleasant, but I would have a jacket with me, the temperatures will be in the 50s before the game is over. It will feel more like football than baseball weather.
What ever you have planned enjoy. Rain and thunderstorm return next week.
