UPDATE: Rain & Storms Moving Through

Rain & a few thunderstorms are sliding across I-40 into southern Middle Tennessee right now.  Below shows a look at 4WARN Live Doppler, as of 2:50pm…

This line of showers/storms will continue to push southward through all of the Mid State, before passing into Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi late this afternoon.

Notice farther north a NEW line of showers/storms is getting organized.  That line there has a better chance of producing small hail (pea to dime size) as it works through our area.

Right now, the cell over Logan County, KY (as of 2:55pm) has a Severe Thunderstorm Warning out for it…due to the threat for 1″ diameter hail.  This should be the exception this afternoon though, with any hail producing storms that move through.

Temperatures are falling nicely thanks to the rain.  Check out the current readings at our local airports…

Here’s the latest FUTURECAST for a look at how these areas of rain will progress through the rest of today and tonight…

Tomorrow, additional showers are likely at anytime of the day, but mainly will be confined along and east of I-65.

We’ll have an update on the current positioning of today’s storms, where hail is most likely, and the timing and placement of rain on Thursday, today….beginning on Channel 4 News at 4pm.
