What a gloomy looking day outdoors! I just stepped out for a break a few minutes ago and thought it looked like it was going to rain, and it almost felt like it could snow!
It’s cloudy across most of Tennessee and southern Kentucky, actually. Here’s a high resolution look at the clouds from above (source: CIMSS/MODIS).
Don’t be fooled though. It’ll stay dry for the rest of today and for a while to come. SO….if your car looks like this, it’s a great time to shine ‘er up and enjoy it for a while!
Without question, we need this break from rain! Check out how wet December’s been and 2015 as a whole, in Nashville…
It’s been even wetter over southeastern Middle Tennessee, where over a foot of rain has fallen this month alone!
Nashville’s had a wetter than average December, but only by an inch or so. An hour or so southeast down I-24, look at the surplus for the month (around Fayetteville, Lynchburg, and Winchester)!
Because of all the recent rain, we still have a Flood Warning for the Tennessee River at Savannah and a Flood Advisory for the Cumberland River at Dover….
Again though, even these rivers should improve as 2016 begins, since rain will be hard to come by until at least late next week.
Now…will the colder air that’s moved in stick around too? We’ll address that coming up on Channel 4 News at 4pm, 4:30pm, 5pm, 6pm, 6:30pm, & 10pm.
